We know it’s not easy visiting a church for the first time. You can never be quite sure what to expect. Hopefully the following information will make your first visit a little more enjoyable.
The People
Our church is made up of people from all over Orange County. Some of us are married, others are single, and quite a few are students from the surrounding universities. Not everyone who attends our service would call themselves a christian. Guests and those eager to learn about God are always welcome here.
Dress is casual and so are the conversations. You’ll find many people lingering long after the service is finished. We love being together.
The Building
We lease the OC Plaza’s Conference Center on Sunday mornings. The lobby is beautiful, the auditorium seats 200 people, and the Children’s Ministry Classrooms are just down the hall. Our street signs should guide you in and there is plenty of parking around back.
The Service
A typical service begins with music and ends with a sermon. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper more than once per month and occasionally end the service with a baptism in the parking lot. We take a brief break in the middle of the service for announcements, an offering, and to release children to Children’s Ministry. The whole thing is an action-packed hour and a half.
Our music style is best described as impassioned orthodoxy. We sing with all our hearts and all our minds and with all our strength. As someone has commented, “Man, you sing like you mean it.” Yes…we really do! Many of the songs we sing are from Sovereign Grace Music, but hymns and music from other writers are utilized as well. The most important thing is that the lyrics are true. Musical tastes come and go, but the truth never changes.
Our preaching style is best described as expository exultation. Every text, every week…inspected, proclaimed, celebrated, and applied. No sermon is complete before the work of Christ is identified and explained. Our typical pattern is to study book of the bible, passage by passage, allowing the text itself to set the agenda.
The Children
We want our children to love Sundays and work hard to make this a reality. You can expect the volunteers to be excited to meet your children, to learn their names, and to keep close tabs on them during the service. Safety is very important to us and we’ll have you register your children as guests before the service or at the mid-service break.
We offer childcare for children ages newborn through Kindergarten during the entire service. They play games, sing songs, do crafts, and get lots of love and attention. You can drop them off any time after 9:50am.
We also offer an “age-targeted, gospel-centered” class for children ages 1st through 5th grades during the sermon portion of our service. Your children are welcome to stay with you or participate in the class. It’s your choice. More info and an opportunity to explore this class will occur during the mid-service break.
Finally, we have a dedicated Nursing Mothers’ Room with live audio and video feed of the service. Follow the signs in the lobby or ask an usher for directions.
The Lunch
Our service ends at 11:30am, which means we all leave hungry (Can I hear an Amen?!). Before you visit, check the church calendar…we might already have lunch planned for you. Park Days and our monthly Guest Reception at a Pastor’s home will hit the spot. Grab an invitation off the Info Desk in the lobby and join us.
