Why I (will) blog.

October 11, 2009

It’s all over folks.  In just one week I’ve tweeted, updated my Facebook status for the first time (via twitter…it’s so easy it feels wrong), and now a blog.  Social media is officially dead.  Your pastor is tweeting!

So why the big change?  Why am I blogging?  Here is a short list for starters:

  1. To spread the good news of Jesus Christ.  He died.  He rose.  He lives.  He forgives.  And I (will) blog about it.
  2. To serve my church.  I (will) blog to encourage, instruct, connect, and be known among my closest brothers and sisters.  Honestly, I think I’ve missed out.  I wrote off blogging as some sort of narcissistic hobby and never really saw what I see now…that reading and writing blogs (especially blogs among friends in the real world) can bear some good fruit.  Life is going way to fast.  I like when my friends write some of it down.
  3. To reach the lost.  When God works and my neighbor starts searching for an answer, I want him to find my blog.
  4. To grow personally.  Writing makes me think and I need more “thinking” time.

No big crazy dreams of being a super-blogger or anything.  I just feel like I should stop hiding and start blogging.

Great blog Eric especially the story on the “church” tab. God is doing an amazing work in OC, knitting your heart (and Kirsi too!)into the church so quickly. Missing your enthusiastic fellowship but very grateful to God for His obvious provision to SGOC!!
