Seeing Grace

November 8, 2009

A rambling list of things I remember from the weekend…

  • Jeremiah served like a mad man and smiled the whole time.  That’s not personality, that’s the fruit of the spirit.
  • I couldn’t find Al because he was drumming…after setting up communion and the Operation Christmas Child.  wow.
  • The Torres guys are gearing up to start serving on the worship team.
  • A husband and wife serving on the worship team together.  That’s cool.
  • The Marshals gumbo smelled so good.  Love what Karen said about cooking for the entire church…”Why not?”  Yes.
  • A house full of laughter and conversation late into the night.
  • The kids returning from Children’s Ministry just before we celebrated the Lord’s Supper.  Everybody was in the room!
  • Celebrating the Lord’s Supper after preaching on the Lord’s Supper.  I highly recommend it.  I think we were all ready!
  • People clapping when I notified them that Ron Boomsma would be with us next week.  We love this guy.
  • Standing beside Mike Davis at the end of the service, after I had preached and during that last song.  The guy is my friend and partner in the gospel.
  • Everybody looking very happy to see each other.  I don’t want to grow familiar with this one.
  • Ta dah!  Guests left saying they were very encouraged. Thanks God.

I was struck by the moment of taking communion together – all the family together, waiting for each other, enjoying together the grace of God.

Saturday was a true Thanksgiving meal.

Ahhhh. Such a good reminder of what I take for granted each and every day.

Ahh… there’s no place like HOME :)
So nice to read how God is moving so mightily back at the old home church! The Lord shines so greatly thru the love and warmth of my lovely SGOC Family I miss so much back there. Keep up the great work -or should I say the ‘GOD Work’ out there kids :)
You’re doing wonderfully!
