There’s just no way to adequately describe to you what I observed last week. I’m going to try…but I’m fear I’m doomed to fail.
Melissa Goins from Sovereign Grace Ministries spent a week with us, mainly serving the church here in what can best be described as mundane, behind-the-scenes, boring administration stuff (Uh-oh…here comes the hate-mail from all you admin people!). I’m just saying these are the kind of things nobody notices unless it hasn’t been done or done right. Melissa wasn’t going to get rich and famous doing this stuff…at least not until now!
- Formating and editing church documents (ex. Starting Point)
- Leading a seminar for our vocalists
- Preparing music materials and songbooks
- Cataloguing and organizing my library
- Researching various Policies and Procedures (ex. Children’s Ministry security, Corporate Records)
Add to this opportunities to fellowship with members of the church and I think I heard her washing my families dishes a few evenings and you get the point…she was busy!
Oh, and did I mention she paid her on way out here from Maryland? Or that she insisted on paying personally for the office supplies she used (Hey Worship Team…your songbook is a gift from Melissa!)?
Or that she arrived her first Sunday bearing gifts from Sovereign Grace Ministries for each church family? And that Sovereign Grace Ministries paid her to be here instead of there, serving at the Pastors College?
All of this…the entire M-Team…one big gift we didn’t ask for and don’t deserve and can’t pack back.
Sound familiar?
Let me be the first to say thanks Melissa. In your own way, you showed us what it means to lay down our lives for one another, to consider others more important than ourselves, and to do it all for the glory of God.
